living biblically…

A staff-writer for Esquire Magazine went on a 365 day journey to discover what it means to live biblically…literally.

My brother Dave has a good write up and proper links on his blog…enjoy.

vibe getaway…

This past weekend, 12 of us from CLC went up north to retreat from our hectic and busy world so we could hang together and look at some scripture. The atmoshpere was great. The whole weekend was an open conversation, over food, over scripture, over movies…and all surrounded by nature.

We started the weekend by watching the movie ‘SAVED’, which is a very critical look at evangelical church circles…and unhealthy view to say the least (this is a must see for any christian) and then switched over (throughout the weekend) to talking about Paul’s letter to the Philippians, a very healthy view of the church and the believer.

I’m not going to ramble on and on about our discoveries in Philippians, except to say that it challenges us to live in authentic christian community, to worship Jesus as Lord and to know that God is never finished with us…we’re all works in progress.

scripture & community

“To interpret the Scriptures and interpret them well, I cannot shut myself from the community that is the church; rather, I need to be formed and informed by the breadth of this community, both geographically (the global church) and temporally (history of the church’s witness). While the church is governed by the Scriptures, the Scriptures are only properly opened and active within the believing community.”
